Conservation Volunteers Australia is conducting National Green Jobs
Corps Projects in Queensland, New South Wales, ACT and Tasmania.
This program is for 17 to 24 year old people looking for a pathway to
employment.
If you are not in this age group, but you know someone who would be
interested, please pass this information on.
In participating in this program:
- You are in regular contact with potential employers from a
variety of organisations, including the emerging green and
climate-change related industries.
- You will gain improved career and employment prospects through:
- practical work experience
- accredited training
- proven work ethic
- You will receive up to 30 hours of Work Preparation with a view
to improving your employment prospects.
- You will gain personal development, including team work and
leadership skills.
- You will acquire further skills through structured activities
that are sequential in their learning outcomes.
- Your participation will be in activities that are conservation
focused to protect and rejuvenate Australia's natural environment
and restore our cultural heritage.

Canberra ACTThe responsibilities for
this position will include:
- Operation of the nursery and leadership of the
nursery team of volunteers.
- Sales, marketing and business planning
- Coordination and direction of native seedling
nursery production, orders and dispatch.
- Financial and budget control and reporting
- Staff training (including volunteers)
Essential criteria include a desire to grow and
expand our nursery operations with demonstrated experience in:
- Knowledge of the plants of ACT and surrounding
areas, seed collection, storage and propagation of native plants.
- Production nursery (particular native and
provenance seedlings)
- Managing staff in a wholesale nursery environment
- Implementing and monitoring KPI's
- Generating new sales and creating lasting
relationships with clients
- Nursery irrigation and maintenance systems to
produce field ready seedlings
- Pest/disease monitoring and working with IPM
principles
Desirable criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to increase business profile
in the industry
- Nursery resource procurement on a limited budget
- Understanding and experience in working for an
indigenous organisation and working with support organisations
- Demonstrated experience working with Outlook,
Word and Excel
