Andy Westcott

Molonglo Catchment Coordinator

Andy at EnvirExpo on a very cold day in Queanbeyan, June 2009Andy’s background includes a range of environmental roles on the lower north coast of NSW, dealing with a wide range of NRM issues from the rehabilitation of degraded habitats to environmental impact statements. These roles have put into practice the skills Andy acquired in gaining his Bachelor of Applied Science at Southern Cross University majoring in Environmental Resource Management.

Andy has carried out numerous studies on urban, peri-urban and rural land to assess environmental impacts of proposed developments and to assess the current state of the land. This background has given him a sound understanding of the environmental issues arising from urbanisation and the social and economic impacts degradation of these habitats generates. In his other roles Andy has worked on the development of environmental educational campaigns aimed at schools, urban, peri-urban and rural audiences on issues from recycling to biodiversity.

Andy became interested in the environmental field while taking part in a Greencorp program in 1997 and has since worked toward securing a position within the community-based environmental field. After gaining experience in a range of environmental fields Andy came to the Molonglo Catchment Group in 2008 to take on Catchment Coordinator position. Andy is always happy to assist the Molonglo community with any catchment health issues they may like to discuss.
